I saw this winder on an online jeweler's website for over twice the price, and when I checked Amazon, sure enough, they had it for a reasonable cost.I received it quickly enough -about two weeks ago -and I can't really speak to its durability, but will follow up at a later date if it breaks down (as my other winder did). This is a very attractive unit. The maker states something to the effect that it takes skilled craftsmen something like 60 days to complete - It does have an attractive finish, but those craftsmen must be paid something like five cents an hour in order for them to sell this thing at this price. So far (knock on wood) the winder functions well, and does everything its designed to do. I have both Swiss and Japanese movements (and 2 Chinese) in my automatics, and I am using the counter-clockwise rotation with success. I figured my other winder might have... When it arrived and did not work correctly, I wasn't very optimistic that the seller would replace it, since it sold for such a low price, but Shining Image promptly sent me a return shipping label and replaced the winder, at no cost, with a new one that worked perfectly. Shining Image was very prompt in responding to emails, unfailingly polite, and a pleasure to deal with.
